스페이스 빔은 커뮤니티 체제로 운영하고 있습니다.‘커뮤니티(Community)’는 개별 주체의 독자적 특성과 위치를 존중하면서도 상호 교류와 소통을 활발히 이루려는, 이른바 ‘느슨한 연계’를 지향하는 열린 개념이라고 할 수 있습니다. 이는 그 동안 ‘작품' 중심으로 생산자와 수용자 간의 위계적 구분을 전제로 하는 일방적, 단선적, 결과 중심적인 문화를 지양하고, ‘나’ 자신이 예술 활동의 생산자이자 소비자라는 이중적 주체, 이른 바 ‘pro-sumer’임을 인식, 또 다른 주체와의 수평적 교류 속에 참여와 과정, 공유의 의미와 가치를 내면화하는 문화민주주의의 일상적 실천이라고 할 수 있습니다.

Space Beam is run by a community system.

"Community" is the open concept for so-called "loose connection" which promotes interchange and communication among each individual while respecting their own characters and positions at the same time. In a community system, we stand away from one-sided and outcome-centered culture ruled by the hierarchy between producers and consumers surrounding "artworks", and recognize that "ourselves" are the double subjects of producers and consumers of artistic activities, so-called "pro-sumers." Preserving a community system is a part of daily practice for achieving cultural democracy, where the participation, process, and sharing through horizontal interchange with other subjects is meaningful and valuable.
